Title: Apple Pie in a Jar

Pack apple slices tightly in quart jars.
In a large pot make a syrup from sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and water. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Add lemon juice.
Pour over apples, giving 1/4-inch of headspace. Tap jars to release any air bubbles. Seal and process jars in water bath 20 minutes.
Yields 7 quarts.
When you want to make an apple pie, just pull out one of these jars and pour it into a pie shell and bake. Easy!
